Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was remanded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (27 Jan). He was arrested on Saturday over suspected money laundering on a land ownership deal.

Rajapaksa was granted bail on two surety bonds of Rs 50 million each.

According to Police Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga, Rajapaksa was arrested in connection with an investigation into the purchase of a property and house in the Ratmalana area for Rs 34 million, allegedly acquired through illegal means.
