Port Trade Unions concerned over changes to ECT Master Plan

News Image
The Port Joint Trade Union Alliance (PJTUA) has raised concerns over several critical issues affecting Colombo Port’s operations, requesting authorities to take immediate action.

Trade Unions claim that the ECT Master Plan developed in collaboration with leading global firms has being arbitrarily altered by the newly-appointed Managing Director of the Port. The union accused SLPA’s newly appointed Managing Director of making unilateral decisions without consulting key stakeholders.

They expressed suspicion that these changes might be a deliberate attempt to delay ECT’s launch or favour another terminal at Colombo Port. Further, they have called for an urgent review of the situation, urging authorities to ensure that ECT’s operations proceed as originally planned.
