Former Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksha’s elder son, Namal Rajapaksha has been indicted in the High Court for alleged misappropriation from an Indian investment before 2015.

The indictments were filed before the Colombo High Court by the Attorney General, alleging the misappropriation of Rs. 70 million provided by the Indian real estate company Krish Lanka Pvt. Ltd. for the development of rugby in Sri Lanka.

In 2015, Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe lodged a complaint alleging that the funds provided by Krish Company were misappropriated by the accused and not utilized for the intended purposes of the company.

The Krish hotel project located in the heart of Colombo was aborted and the unfinished construction remains.
